On International Workers’ Day, the people of France took to the streets in their ongoing fight against pension reform. Rallies in Paris, Lyon and Nantes turned violent and ended with fierce clashes with local police, resulting in property damage, including attacks on cars and businesses. Police resorted to tear gas and water cannon to disperse the crowds, with reports that hundreds of people have been arrested.
