24 Hour ATR

Here is the race update from this weekend, the race started off great, 0700 we took off, the first loop was going good, but there was a trail demons that snagged about 6 of runners at the same spot, but as in any race, get up dust off, assess yourself and keep moving forward, all seemed fine for me and was going good, until mid-way through the 2nd loop, i started to noticed a slight pain in right quad, so i grabbed my trekking poles for the 3rd loop, but it was too late.

i apparently had over compensated on the first 2 loops and then the storm hit making the trails a river, slogged way back to start/finish and took a break, got on dry clothes and better rain jacket, ate some real food and headed out for loop 4.

The trails were in ok shape, muddy and slick, but still runnable in a few spots, but the storm downed a couple of trees, which meant we had to go off trail and some of the decents were bad even with poles, that's when i felt the quads give out, going up or down hills and rocky climbs, my race ended after 4 loops, 25 miles and just over 3300 ft of vert gain in 10 hours, it was a slosh pit, i could have maybe done 1 more loop for 50K, but i just called it at 4, there is always next time, maybe, my race time maybe over.

Want to thank Alex and the whole ATHLETIC EQUATION team and all the volunteers, he and his team do a great job and put on great events. They always provide the best event support to all the runners.
