Hundreds in Mangalore took part in the traditional ritual Agni Keli, also known as the Fire Fight of Kateel Durga Parameswari Temple, to appease the Hindu Goddess Durga.
The main attraction of the festival is the 'fire fight,’ when two groups of worshippers armed with burning palm fronds engage in a fierce battle, throwing the blazing fronds at each other while dancing and chanting to the beat of drums.
