Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 41: Superboss Neo Bahamut (Invisible Maze)

On the other side of the Invisible Maze in the Inner Lunar Subterrane lies the final Superboss, and by far the hardest one! During its first cycle, Neo Bahamut won't take any damage from your attacks despite the numbers appearing from them. So take this time to buff your magic defense as much as humanly possible, and Slow him a couple times. But as with other superbosses, do NOT put up Wall or else he will obliterate you. He has two attacks, Gigaflare (weak damage if it even hits) and Teraflare (always hits for extreme damage). After his first Teraflare, get everyone revived and healed up, get your Magic Defenses back up, and when Cecil tells the group to regroup while it's recharging, then Neo Bahamut will start taking damage. He'll immediately use Black Hole to dispel your buffs, so have Paladin Cecil and Rosa restore them with Mighty Guard and Shell respectively, using Cure 5 to heal as needed, have Edge Throw things, and have Rydia cast Nuke or Bio on him. Each of those attacks will trigger a Gigaflare counter, but as stated before, it's weak if it even hits. Don't summon with Rydia, because he will counter those attacks with Teraflare instead. When he gets below half HP, he'll start countering everything with Teraflare, and he'll start his ultimate desperation cycle where he alternates between Teraflare and Vitalize a random number of times until Cecil indicates the end of the cycle by telling the group to regroup while it recharges. As soon as you see his first Teraflare counterattack, start piling on Globe199s for guaranteed 15,000 damage apiece to minimize the counters and take him out before he can start Vitalizing. Killing Neo Bahamut will give you the Apocalypse Sword, the Neo Bahamut summon for Rydia, the Grand Armor, and unlock the final shop of the game at the Crystal Palace. You need the Hero Medal from the Four Crystals to shop there. The ultimate challenge of the game, the Boss Rush, is also unlocked after this fight!
