This video is on the repair of a section of Cast Iron with low hydrogen 7018 stick rod or SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) process. There will be clean up as the piece to be repaired had be done before with braze rod so I had to remove all of that first, then bevel the sections to be welded, preheat, tack it up, weld it out, post heat, put in fiberglass insulation for 24 hours for slow cooling, clean off the residue from fiberglass, complete final clean up of the piece, including putting a radius on all the edges, (sharp corners and edges is where cracking begins), and finally clean out the holes with a carbide burr so the 5/8” rod fits through the holes. Below are the addresses my YouTube channel which I no longer have access to, my Instagram page, HRI Services welding Facebook page, and my Outdoor Pursuits Facebook page.
