SpaceX First Starship SuperHeavy Launch, Monday, 4072
With any luck, tomorrow at 8am Eastern time, SpaceX will launch for the first time, the Starship and Super Heavy, fully-reusable rocket that will eventually transport up to 100 people to colonize Mars.
The Starship spacecraft sits atop the giant Super Heavy rocket – a total of 394 feet tall with a diameter of 29.5 feet. Starship will be the world’s most powerful launch vehicle ever developed, capable of carrying up to 150 metric tons in the fully-reusable version, or up to 250 metric tons in the expendable version.
The top half of the system is the Starship spacecraft, itself 164 feet in length by 29.5 feet in diameter.
The bottom half of the system is the Super Heavy launch vehicle, 226 feet in length by 29.5 feet in diameter. It is powered by 33 Raptor engines and will re-enter Earth’s atmosphere to land back at the launch site at Starbase in Texas.
