Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 38: Superbosses Gamma & Omega

The superboss hunt continues as we head back into the Cave of Eblan and the Tower of Babel, where we fight two death machines, Gamma and Omega! Both machines have the same attacks, but Omega has a few more tricks up its sleeve. Be sure to cast Float on your party before or during the fight to avoid Quake from both bosses. Omega can dispel it with Black Hole, but just reapply it afterwards. Omega will silently heal itself three times once you drop it to 16,000 HP, and most of its attacks are HP based, so buffing won't do much good early on, but you'll need it in the end. As for damaging it, Omega will cast Wall, so any magic attacks will need to pierce it, or alternatively you can Wall one of your own characters and bounce attack spells off them. Kain's Jump and Edge's Throw seem like the most reliable damage dealers. Another thing to watch out for is Omega's Electromagnetism attack, which Stops one of your characters for a very long time. It may actually be faster to kill them off and revive them to get back in the game.

When Omega is almost dead, the music will change and the screen will go dark. At this point Omega will start a countdown. This is where you want to get your Magic Defense up, because when the countdown reaches zero, it will fire an Atomic Ray at you (and if you fought Shinryu before this like I did, you know how much it hurts!). Then it will Vitalize itself and the countdown repeats. When its HP drops below 32,768, the next action it takes will be to use Fission to self-destruct and deal massive damage to your entire party based on its remaining HP. So you'll want to rush it down as fast as possible to take it down or at least mitigate the damage, and you might want to have Kain Leap out of the way just to ensure at least one character survives.

Killing Gamma will give you a Wing Edge and 5 Ninja Stars. Killing Omega will give you the Omega Ring, the Black Hole spell for Rydia, an Antimatter, and a Globe 199.
