Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 36: Superbosses Yeti & Marilith

With both underworld Superbosses dead and gone, let us now continue fighting the overworld Superbosses! We got a two-for-one deal in this episode with the Yeti from Final Fantasy 6 and Marilith from Final Fantasy 1!

Yeti can be found in the Ice Cavern, which can be found by taking a Black Chocobo and the hovercraft to a narrow strip of land north of the Magnetic Cave near Troia. Yeti is a heavy physical attacker who has a hard-hitting charge attack like Yang's Kick ability as well as a powerful ice magic user, able to hit even high-level, ultimate-equipment parties for over 1000 damage. He can also self-heal in various ways, like using Vitalize, Absorb (in the second phase), and self-targeted Ice 3. With endgame equipment, his physicals should just do scratch damage, but feel free to buff your defenses as high as you can and then just pile on the damage to counter his healing. Killing Yeti gives you Yang's ultimate weapon, the Dragon Claw, as well as the Berserk Ring!

Marilith can be found in the Ancient Grotto to the southeast of Kaipo. You'll need the hovercraft to get there. Marilith will open the fight immediately with Sword Rain which deals about 2000 damage to your entire party. She also has plenty of status effect-inducing attacks, so Adamant Armor is a must to protect against that. She also has the Bio spell which really hurts, as well as self-healing with Absorb and a single-target Sword Rain attack which can one-shot any one of your characters. Get a few Silk Webs on her to give yourself a chance to recover from her attacks, especially in the final phase when she starts spamming single-target Sword Rain to one-shot your characters. Once Marilith goes down, you are awarded with Rydia's ultimate weapon, the Slaying Tail, as well as your own Bio spell (basically a much more powerful version of Virus).

It's worth noting that there is a post-boss-rush battle where you can fight 8 Mariliths at once, and this fight is widely considered to be absolutely impossible.
