Police: 6 people wounded in shooting on South Carolina beach

Multiple teenagers gathered for a “senior skip day” event in South Carolina were caught in gunfire, leaving six people injured and two charged with unlawful possession of guns, according to police, the Associated Press reported.

The incident took place on Friday around 5:20 p.m. on Isle of Palms, which is located 94 miles (151 kilometers) south of Myrtle Beach. Police are actively investigating the shooting and seeking public help for additional information or video footage.

At a news conference on Saturday, Isle of Palms Police Chief Kevin Cornett reported that a 16-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and carrying it unlawfully.
