The Quill Gordon is a classic Catskill style dry fly that has been around for over a hundred years. Created by Theodore Gordon, often called the father of American dry fly fishing, it is a simple pattern that rides high on the water and is an excellent dry fly. The original pattern used Wood Duck flank for the wing but many people will substitute Mallard flank that is dyed a Wood Duck color for the wings. The Mallard flank is easier to obtain.

Although the Quill Gordon was created for catching trout, if you like to throw Catskill style dries to panfish it works very well for them as well. -- Enjoy.
