Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 33: Superbosses Goddess & Selene

After descending into the Lunar Core, the time has not yet come to face Zemus, but rather to face another Superboss! Through a hidden path in the Lunar Core, you can teleport to another new area where the Ultima sword lies, guarded by Goddess from Final Fantasy 6!

Goddess is the reason why I wanted to stock up on Adamant Armor beforehand. She counterattacks everything with a status effect-inducing attack, whether it's Charm (confusion), Slap (Stun, Curse, or Mute), or Whisper (full-party pig). Adamant armor protects against all status effects, making this a rather trivial fight. The only things you need to worry about with Adamant Armor are Goddess's Holy attack and her double attack. Beating her will give you the Ultima sword and unlock an entire group of endgame superbosses whose locations are shown after the fight.

On our way back to Earth, there is also another Superboss on the Moon we can fight. Selene comes in a pair with three Artemises as minions. Selene is another status-effect-heavy superboss, so Adamant Armor really comes in handy here as well. Selene will counter non-magical attacks with Slap, magic with Petrify, and summons with Charm, and again Adamant Armor protects against all of them. Even with Adamant Armor, Selene's physical attacks HURT and can one-shot any character it hits. Blink helps in that regard. Killing the two Selenes will net you the Eclipse Sword.
