Ukraine has passed a law giving Zelensky’s government direct authority to shut down media outlets that it deems unacceptable, bypassing any need for a court ruling.

The new law takes the power of the Ukrainian Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting to a new level, making it the sole regulator of the mass media.
