Gulab Jamun Recipe

Gulab jamun kaise banaye

Gulab Jamun is a popular Indian dessert made of milk solids that are shaped into balls and then fried and soaked in sugar syrup. Here's a simple recipe to make Gulab Jamun:

Ingredients:

1 cup khoya or mawa (dried whole milk)
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (maida)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter)
2-3 tablespoons milk (as needed)
Oil or ghee for frying
For Sugar Syrup:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1 tablespoon rose water
Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, crumble khoya and add all-purpose flour, baking powder, and ghee. Mix well and add milk as needed to form a smooth dough.
Divide the dough into small equal-sized balls and roll them between your palms to make smooth balls. Make sure there are no cracks on the surface of the balls.
Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the gulab jamun balls into the oil and fry them until they turn golden brown on all sides. Do not overcrowd the pan while frying the balls.
Once done, take them out of the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
In another pan, add sugar, water, and cardamom powder and cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Increase the heat and let it come to a boil.
Reduce the heat and let the syrup simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly. Add rose water and mix well.
Turn off the heat and add the fried gulab jamun balls into the sugar syrup. Let them soak in the syrup for at least 2-3 hours before serving.
Serve the delicious Gulab Jamun either warm or cold. Enjoy!
Note: It is important to ensure that the oil or ghee is not too hot while frying the balls as they may burn on the outside and remain uncooked inside.
