In this video, we discuss the news we just dropped about RoX-Con, an outdoor Convention, Tournament, and Swap Meet not coming any time soon to the Harvest Moon Twin Drive-In Theater.

I'm sorry everyone, I had to do it, please don't hurt me. So the basis behind this video is actually something I've been playing around with for a few years now, and it does actually involve everything I mentioned in this video.

2 years ago or so I had the idea of doing an outdoor convention at our local drive-in. I've always wanted to play video games on an outdoor screen or in a movie theater, and I love our local drive-in. The way I would want to make it work would be probably just a one-day show, on a Saturday. Since they have digital projectors that are tied in two PlayStations to project the movies, connecting a video game system should be no problem. so why is this just an April fool's joke for now? Well, there are few logistics I need to figure out

Lodging:
Let's be honest here, Gibson City, Illinois is not a bursting metropolitan area. Getting a significant crowd to corn country is going to be hard enough, but having lodging for them is even more difficult. The two closest big cities are either Champaign or Bloomington, both of which are at least 30 minutes away. I don't know that people would be willing to travel that far to attend a one-day show.

Airports:
Again, the closest airports would be either Champaign or Bloomington, and those are more regional airports that most carriers do not fly into. Most people would probably fly into Chicago, over 2 hours away, or Indianapolis, about the same distance. For out-of-town guests, I don't know that they would want to again drive that far.

Timing:
Let's be honest here, this is a fully functional drive-in. That means we would either have to pay to rent out the facility completely during prime movie season, or we have to have the event before the season starts in early March, which can be super cold here, or wait until the season is over in October. October could work, but again we could have very crummy weather.

Exposure:
Just being honest about things, I am a small fish in the world of retro video games. I don't have the connections at this point to pull in people from across the country. It's something I would love to do someday, but this is just not the time to do it. however, if someone wants to help sponsor the event to put it on, I would be more than willing to dive into it.

So, while this was an April fool's joke, it's also a dream and a goal of mine. I have talked to the crew at the Harvest Moon and they'd be interested in letting us use the facility. It is a possibility, just not right now.
