In this episode, we take you for a tour around the 2021 Midwest Gaming Classic held in November 2021.

Ever since I found out that it existed, I have wanted to be a part of what I consider to be my hometown convention, the Midwest Gaming Classic. While I no longer live in Milwaukee, I still definitely consider that home. As such, I have attended MGC in 2019, had plans to be here in 2020 until COVID shut everything down, and I'm thrilled to be back in 2021.

Held at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee, the Midwest Gaming Classic has been around now for 20 years! That's right, this is the 20th Midwest Gaming Classic. MGC always hosts a variety of different events over the course of the weekend, the swap meet & vendor hall is one of the obvious ones, but there's also a free play arcade featuring pinball and video games, cosplay competitions, an artist row, and even live professional wrestling. That was one of the cool things for me, I actually got to meet wrestling legend Swaggle, a super cool dude and very friendly.

Going into the event, there were several items I was looking for. I was looking for a dog bone controller for the NES as the one that I have does not play terrifically. I was also looking for Star Wars for the Famicom, Super Back to the Future 2 for the Super Famicom, Adventure Island 4 for the Famicom, Cruis'n for the Wii, Sin & Punishment for the Japanese N64, and New Super Mario Bros. For the Wii. I will say I was surprised I was able to pick off two of what I was looking for right off the bat, and actually got quite a number of items that I was looking to pick up. I wound up buying something that I never expected, but you will have to wait for my event recap to see what that is.

One of the great things about events like this is getting to meet friends, old and new. This is the first time that John Riggs (https://www.youtube.com/c/JohnRiggs), Kris from GameDad (https://www.youtube.com/c/GameDadShow), Jay from Square Pegs (https://www.youtube.com/c/SquarePegs), Jluv81 (https://www.youtube.com/c/JLuv81), & Do You Nerd (https://www.youtube.com/c/DoYouNerd) were able to attend the Midwest Gaming Classic. I also got to meet old friends here as well, including fans who came up and recognized me from the videos and from attending the previous event. It's always great to have the social side of events such as this, and something I encourage you highly to take advantage of if you have the ability to do so.

A very fun tradition of MGC is the organizers always work to bring in some very cool cars to have on display. Sometimes they try to get the originals, other times it is fan remakes. Much like in 2019, they had the Wisconsin edition of the Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters on display, along with a Jeep and a Land cruiser decorated in Jurassic Park trim. Many people look at the Land Cruiser with confusion, as the movie used Ford Explorers, so what's with the Land Cruiser? The owner of the vehicle actually has information posted right next to his car explaining that in the books the trucks used on the island were, in fact, Toyota Land Cruisers. New for this year was a car I never thought that I would see, the Mirth Mobile from Wayne's World. This AMC Pacer is ugly as sin and beautiful at the same time. Thanks to everyone who brought their cars to have on display as it definitely adds another level of fun to the event.

As is typical, we had a great time at the 2021 edition of the Midwest Gaming Classic, the wait was definitely worth It. To wait so long next time as the next MGC is in April of 2022! We talked to the event coordinators Sunday evening before we left and we will be making our plans to attend within the next 10 Days. Make sure you stay subscribed, make sure you follow Midwest Gaming classic online, and we will see you all in April!
