Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 28: Superboss Gilgamesh

After fighting another spirit of Baron's true king and getting the Raiden summon and unlocking the ability to switch Cecil back to Dark Knight form, it's now time to continue down the Lunar Subterrane wherein lies another superboss! Our past two encounters with FF5's Gilgamesh were scripted and unwinnable, but now he's finally found the sword he's looking for and we have to go approach him to fight him this time for the sword!

Gilgamesh's Caliburn attack has three variants: one that hits one party member, one that attacks twice, and one that hits all party members. This attack will always do 1/3 of a character's max HP, which actually makes this fight harder at higher levels. He also has an attack that heals himself based on damage, making this battle essentially a damage race. Winning the fight will get you the Caliburn sword, and you can rematch him anytime on the Lunar Whale where beating him again will reward you with a whole slew of weapons.
