Why I'm BANNED From Facebook

Who's been banned from #Facebook? Raise your hand.

A lot of you asked me if I have a Facebook page, and unfortunately I do not (anymore).

Here's the story of how my Facebook account got permanently suspended for political reasons after 13 years on the platform, with no right to appeal.

On June 17, 2022 I was banned forever simply for posting this link to Russian Federation president Vladimir #Putin's speech at the annual St. Petersberg Economic Forum.

As a journalist it is my training to always post a link to the most authoritative version of any speech or document, especially in cases where a leader is speaking in a different language. I want to ensure that I get the most accurate text of that leader's speech, along with a reliable English translation. I linked my news story to the video, with a transcript of Putin's address in English, direct from the Kremlin website.

For this, and this alone, I was suspended from Facebook mere minutes after posting the link for "spreading Russian disinformation."

It's a speech by a world leader that's newsworthy, for crying out loud.

(UPDATE: I am now back on Twitter @RealLoriSpencer, but the Facebook ban is permanent.)

If you got Zucc'd too, tell us YOUR story in the comments!
