Online Test-Taking Tips (CBEST and more)

Hello there! Today, we're finally done with the CBEST practice math test questions... it can get quite boring when you're tackling problem after problem after problem. So for today, we are moving away from that but still about CBEST. I've gotten questions about tips and tricks for taking the CBEST test online since you aren't given a pencil and scratch paper. In a lot of my videos, I show my work and walk you through my thought process. In an online test setting, sometimes you don't get that luxury to write out all your work. Something to practice before taking the actual test is getting comfortable with typing out your work. Be comfortable with showing your work through typing. If not, you can use your cursor to draw out your work but this will take a lot longer usually.

I briefly go over some of the things I keep in mind before I take any online tests, whether its specifically the CBEST or something else. Here's a quick list, watch my video for the reasonings behind these considerations.

1.) Are you testing with Pearson Vue? I used Pearson Vue for many of my online tests.
2.) At-Home Testing Setup. Keep in mind where you plan on taking this test. Is your desk empty? Are your walls and surroundings empty? Is there anything that might create a misunderstanding that you are trying to cheat on the test?
3.) Laptop vs Desktop? I personally like using a laptop because I can move my device to wherever I choose to take my test. Don't forget your charger. Check your internet connection.
4.) External Devices. Do you have an external webcam or mouse?
