Greg and Jackson keeping the bull mob ahead of the March mud.
Greg and Jackson keeping the bull mob ahead of the March mud. By giving the bull mob a small section of winter stockpiled forage each day it allows us to keep them moving onto clean pasture. We are also unrolling 1 bale of hay every other day to stretch out our limited stockpiled forage to make it through March mud month. We are 3 weeks from being able to start grazing 10" high new spring growth green grass. Hay can be a tool to help you reach spring grass when you have a shortage of winter forage. Don't graze all your stockpile first and run out and still be facing 3 weeks of March mud month. They need be moved to keep ahead of the mud and get the best animal performance. If you want to keep your farm profitable every year, check out my 3 grazing books that I wrote on our website: http://greenpasturesfarm.net/books/
