‘The Marvels’ Reshoots Dump Goofy Footage Following ‘Ant-Man’ Failure
https://cosmicbook.news/the-marvels-reshoots-dumping-goofy-footage-following-ant-man-bombing

We actually might have Kevin Feige, Peyton Reed, and Jeff Loveness to thank in the long run as it is claimed The Marvels is undergoing reshoots to dump the goofy footage in the movie and fix the third act.

Kevin Feige’s Phase 4 and the start of Phase 5 have mostly featured awful writing paired with extreme goofiness that has caused MCU fans to turn on their once beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe where it was once thought Feige and company could do no wrong.

However, following a string of failures theatrically and on Disney Plus, the MCU is not what it used to be, as flicks such as Eternals, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Ant-Man and the Quantumania haven’t been well received in addition to Disney Plus shows such as She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel, the latter being the least-watched Marvel show on Disney Plus.

Things are so bad for Ant-Man and the Quantumania that it is now underperforming the first two Ant-Man movies at the box office — yeah, including the 2015 flick. Quantumania also cost a lot more to make (likely double) and there is actually a possibility the film might not even make as much as the first one. That’s a massive bomb.

What are the problems with The Marvels?
Regarding The Marvels, the release date was recently pushed back for a second time, this time from Summer to November, with the trades reporting the reason for the delay is to give the film more time for post-production.

Various scoopers chimed in and said the real reason for the delay is because The Marvels tested so poorly with test screenings and audiences.

We can also add that similar to Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, The Marvels has writers that are basically a bunch of nobodies, and we now know how bad the Quantumania script is, so that doesn’t necessarily bode well for The Marvels.

Reshoots involve the third act
Now a new rumor offers further insights as to the delay and problems surrounding The Marvels where it is claimed the reshoots involve fixing the third act and removing goofy scenes.

The info comes from thewatcher_2099 Twitter account who appears to be new to the scoop game, and Redditors have posted the information.

“Reshoots. I heard the 3rd act is being reworked. There were also tonal issues with the film, they may trim some of the goofier stuff down. I am also not sure the 3rd act incursion is happening anymore,” tweeted the account.

The 3rd act incursion is a reference to an earlier leak about The Marvels from last Summer that is said to be a verified plot leak posted to Reddit (spoiler warning).

So it appears The Marvels reshoots are happening which will remove goofy scenes as a result of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania failing as well as the notion that the MCU is just too damn goofy (something The Mandalorian is now being chastised for).

Feige doesn’t have two Avengers movies to save Captain Marvel this time, so Feige needs to get things right as the movie stars three female leads (it’s all about diversity).

Goofiness with good writing is not all bad
James Gunn took the goofy approach with his Guardians of the Galaxy movies but that is what made them special, and Gunn actually thrives at writing goofiness.

It seems Feige decided to borrow from Gunn’s approach and simply make every MCU movie about cosmic and space dumbed-down and/or goofy (Ragnarok, Eternals with the deviants, Ms. Marvel, Quantumania, The Marvels, etc.), which has resulted in a worse product and again, is something I think takes a lot away from Gunn’s Marvel movies (keep them goofy not everything).
