Boiling Maple Syrup & Making Pallet Wood Shake Shingles

On a dark and rainy day I worked outside anyway the whole day harvesting maple sap and boiling it down into maple syrup. And while that was going I was cutting pallets to make shake style shingles for my tiny house siding.

The maple sap gathering and processing is a separate video which is on the way soon.

I briefly discussed it here in the main video of the day so you know what I was up to the entire day.

I got a phone call in the morning from a neighbor who had some metal grates I could use for my maple syrup evaporator. Plus he had some other items of interest to me. So I brought over a coffee and we went through the stuff and visited.

I brought home some nice treasures as well as the grates for my maple syrup evaporator and a stainless steel pan that I can use to process maple syrup.

It was raining while I cut up pallets into shake style shingles for my tiny home siding. But I worked anyway through it until I burnt through two of my Ryobi circular saw batteries.

Since there was no sun the whole day my solar forklift battery bank was lower and I could not recharge the batteries. So I took that as a sign to quite processing pallets for the day.

I was cutting the pallet wood into 9 inch shingles and tossing them into my wagon for later use on the tiny house. I hope to fill up the wagon and then mount the shingles on my tiny house on wheels all at once. This will give me a better mix of colors and sizes when I put them on the tiny house.
