Resizing An Antique Door For My Tiny House Bathroom

I got a free antique door a while back that I wanted to use on the tiny house bathroom. This door had antique door pulls on both sides and looked like it would be a perfect fit for the bathroom. But I had to cut id shorter and narrower.

I first marked the bottom edge of the door to the size I needed. This was the easy part.

Next I had to remove the middle part of the Z frame of the door so that I could measure the door width properly and cut it to size.

The original door size was 78 inches tall by 32 inches wide. My bathroom doorway is 77 inches tall by 24 inches wide.

I had to trim the door to fit and then resize the Z part of the frame to fit the new angle.

Cutting the width was the hardest part. I had to work the circular saw to cut through the door paneling and the frame as well. But it went smoothly enough in the end after making a series of measurements.

After the door was cut in both directions I set the middle part of the frame in place and marked it for the new angles.

After making the cuts the piece fell into place neatly.

I used all the original screws to fasten the frame back together.

Next I removed all the old felt from around the edges and swept it all up nicely to remove any sawdust and dirt.

I brought the door into my tiny house bathroom and fit it in. Perfect. I put a thin shim under the door so that it would not rub on the bottom of the frame after it was mounted to the hinges.

I used some antique looking barn style hinges on the new tiny house bathroom door.

I then fastened on the original antique door pulls. One on the inside and one on the outside.

I really love the look of my rustic tiny house bathroom door.

So far my tiny home bathroom is build using almost all recycled materials.
