This Lonely Campfire
Sitting by this lonely campfire's side,
Memories echo through my quiet mind.
The shadows all around me draw me closer to the fire
That makes me recollect my own home far away.

[R] Now I'm out on my own.
From now on, I'll live among the cedar groves and streams,
And though I walk in solitude,
I know I'm not alone.
Yes, I roam the wild, I roam the Great Unknown.

The sun has sunk behind the trees
Like a golden, shining ship beneath the waves.
The fire and the crooning of my trusty, old guitar
Remove the dark of night from my mind.

[R]

The hands that once were soft and weak
Have been tried by labor and are strong.
My weary feet have borne me through the dust for many miles.
Their duty isn't done, for I've got far to go.

[R]

No one knows, except the Lord above,
Where my path will lead, at the break of dawn.
For now, the lonely fire flickers on throughout the night;
My weary body drifts off to sleep.

[R]
