Escape From Birdcatraz ~ Homestead Cooking ~ Bugging Out

Our chickens have turned out to be escape artists. Melanie is quite busy in the off grid tiny house kitchen baking things. And the two of us practice bugging out.

Chris calls the chicken range Birdcatraz because it seems that it will be escape proof. Well, he was wrong. The stump that everyone was complaining about earlier is a jump off point for the birds to get on top of the door frame and then jump out to freedom.

But someone or something opened up the door and let all the birds out in the night. The next morning they were all free and running around outside and around their original pen with the goats.

For now we are going to leave them there and put them in bed at night to minimize losses and damage to our garden.

Melanie is quite busy cooking in the off grid tiny house on wheels. She loves our Camp Chef portable camp oven and stove very much. I had sold my truck to get this for Melanie just before she arrived on the homestead.

Melanie uses this stove daily now.

She bakes all the time with the oven and it has turned out to be surprisingly efficient for us. I think we have only used a tank and a half of propane (20lb tank) in 5 months.

Melanie made us some nachos for lunch. She is baking her own homemade french bread from scratch. And she made hash browns totally from scratch. Melanie explains to us how she made the hash browns.

Later the two of us were heading out to the woods again for some bug out training. We have been going out once a week now. It is good practice to use our gear and test things out.

I spent a lot of time going through my gear and repacking things better. I took out a lot of heavy items that I have not been using and added some newer and better things.

Please see my other channel for some exciting bug out training:

We just loaded the truck live on video including all our bug out gear and the boat, motor and battery in 4 minutes. Go over to my tactical channel and see that when it goes live.

I also spent some time packing our first aid kits for the house and backpacks. I have had a bunch of first aid kits floating around the place for a while and and finally took the time to condense them into one place.

Chris in the mean time is working on the fire wood supply and stacking the wood in the fire wood shed. He is really doing a great job and the wood is piling up fast.

Thanks for watching. Please Subscribe & follow my daily videos.
