ALERT: SIGNIFICANT Ice Storm Possible in Lower Michigan Wednesday -Great Lakes Weather

Two very polarized air masses will compete for dominance over the Great Lakes Region, fueling the fire for a winter weather event across Lower Michigan. As a record warm air mass surges into the Southeastern United States, gulf moisture will be drawn by a low pressure system to bring heavy rain across much of the Great Lakes Region. This warm air mass will also bring very warm temperatures (up to 70 degrees) to Indiana and Ohio. A zone within lower Michigan will be the sight where air masses collide, as cold surface air will interact with warm air aloft to produce a primed freezing rain zone. Freezing rain accumulations of up to .50" are possible. Meanwhile, snow accumulations of 6-10" will be possible farther north as the cooler air mass will dominate that area.
