Becoming Frederick Douglass

This talk is devoted to one of the greatest works in the History of American Politics, Frederick Douglass’s Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, Written by Himself. This book is at once a damning indictment of American Slavery and an inspiring tribute to the power of the human soul.
No book seems to capture better the natural human longing for freedom, equality, and dignity. While our primary task will be to understand the character and purpose of this great work, we will also reflect on Douglass’s career through his other great works and speeches. Gregory McBrayer returns to EmpowerU for a second very important class.
