Final Fantasy 4 Ultima (SNES ROM Hack) - Part 12: Barbariccia and the Dragon Horde

After ascending the Tower of Zot, the group at last meets Golbez to make the exchange. However, being the evil villain he is, Golbez alters the deal after getting his hands on the crystal, which prompts Tellah to step up and take revenge for the murder of his daughter, invoking the forbidden Meteor spell at the cost of his own life. The spell doesn't take Golbez down with him but does release his mind control over Kain, who then leads the group to Rosa just in the nick of time. As Rosa and Kain rejoin the party, the third of Golbez's Four Fiends attacks!

After the destruction of the wind fiend Barbariccia and the Tower of Zot itself, Kain briefs the group about the existence of four Dark Crystals to correspond with the four light ones hidden in the Underworld. But before we go there, there is another new area added into this hack that we can go. The Skyway has some tough dragon enemies normally encountered later in the game, including a horde of 5 guarding another new weapon, the Thunder Sword! I can't exactly call this fight a Superboss since it's just a horde of regular enemies (albeit very tough ones), but the fight definitely felt like a superboss, honestly harder than Magissa at this point in the game. There is, however, an endgame superboss here that we'll come back to fight much later on.
