Military Arms Transfers by Country 1950-2021

22

This bar chart race shows annually estimated military major arms transfers by country and world from 1950 to 2021. Suppliers (export), recipients (import), world annually and accumulated.

The values used are TIVs, trend-indicator values, and expressed as U.S. dollars at 1990s prices. TIVs are based on the known unit production costs of weapons and represent the transfer of military resources rather than the financial value of the transfer (For instance, aid/gifts can have zero financial value, but the military resource is the cost of production).

Major arms are defined as aircrafts, air defence systems, anti-submarine warfare weapons, armoured vehicles, artillery, engines, missiles, sensors (radar, electro-optical), reconnaissance satellites, ships, turrets.
Not included: Small arms, light weapons, ammunition, trucks, support equipment, components, repairs, services, technology transfers.
