Ontario dairy farmer sparks controversy with video showing raw milk being poured down the drain

After uploading a TikTok video showing him pouring what he claimed to be 30,000 liters of raw milk down the drain, an Ontario dairy farmer caused a stir on social media.

He said that because he had already met his quota, he couldn't sell the milk. Farmers are being urged to dump because, under Canada's managed supply system, there is no longer any incentive to continue producing after reaching your allotment. Even though the amount being dumped may be viewed as a drop in the bucket overall—experts estimate that dairy farmers across the nation discard between 100 million and 300 million liters of milk annually—it still raises concerns about the system at a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet.
