BREAKING!!!! Russia close in on Bakhmut as forces 'encircling' last road out

Russia forces are "encircling" Bakhmut and are battling to take control of the highway that connects the city to the nearby town of Chasiv Yar.

A Russian-installed official in eastern Ukraine claimed that Bakhmut was "operationally surrounded" with its forces "closing the ring around the city."

Yan Gagin, an aide to senior Russian-installed official Denis Pushilin, said: "Fighting for control of the Chasiv Yar-Bakhmut highway is now underway."

But a group of Ukrainian soldiers who recently left Bakhmut,road from Konstantinovka is under fire but not cut.

There are no credible reports of Russian troops breaking through to the Chasiv Yar - Bakhmut road, which runs parallel to the Kostiantinovka road a few miles to the north.
