The man being interviewed is one Dr. Mattias Desmet, a Professor of Clinical Psychology at Ghent University, in Belgium, and this entire discussion, from beginning to end, is absolutely riveting — the scope of its explanatory power unlike anything I've heard from anyone, at any point, on this surreal subject. You must watch it.
.
Prof. Mattias Desmet explores the causes of mass delusion and cognitive dissonance which have eroded common sense on a mass scale. It is the result of a type of (mass) hypnosis. In t interview Mattias explains how his phenomenon of mass formation comes about, and how the (mass) spell can, or must, be broken.
.
According to Prof. Desmet, four things are needed for the creation of mass formation (psychosis):
.
👉 Isolation and lack of social bonds
👉 Lack of meaning making or sense making
👉 Free floating anxiety
👉 Free floating discontent (frustration and/or aggression)
.
Cognitive dissonance rises as the (undiscerned, and thus uncontrolled/unmanaged) mental conflict that fuels a state of (extreme) discomfort, that is felt when two or more modes of thought or beliefs contradict each other. The clashing cognitions may include ideas, beliefs, or the knowledge that one beliefs on has, leading to the unstoppable urge of wanting to escape the perceived inner state of stress, conflict, free floating anxiety. When free floating anxiety takes place on a massive (collective) scale, that is what precedes and fuels the state of mass delusion and mass formation.
