Here is a quick technique tip to help you close your IMS Flex when brand new. IMS Flex is designed to be tight to keep IcePlate® Curve tight, secure and hold heavy loads in place as well as account for stretching over time in the nylon (slight though it may be, the stretch is real). IMS Flex was designed to be very tight. We did this for several reasons. First, the original requirement was to provide a hard cell hydration system that would not rupture under heavy loads like AT4s, radios and Mortar Base Plates, etc. In order to do this, we had to make sure that the fit was extremely tight to prevent the loads from shifting while on the move. Second, nylon, strong though it may be, does stretch over time. We design and engineer all of our products to last and we knew that IMS Flex would be called on to carry lots of heavy things in no-fail environments, so we had to ensure the fit was tight enough to account for nylons natural stretch over time and in-use. Third, we knew that even if IMS Flex were not being used under heavy load, users wouldn’t want their water bottle moving around on them. For many of our users, this is one of the main reasons they moved away from soft bladders and to hard cell IcePlates in the first place.

As part of our multi-step QC process, every IMS Flex is checked with IcePlate® Curve to be sure it closes tightly.
