Great Horned Owls Visit the Nest-Cam One 🦉 01/19/23 06:46

The male Great Horned Owl is on the nest calling to his mate that is above on the Fairway Branch out of cam view. The female quickly joins him on the nest, watching him pick up and move pinecones before the two exchange some beaking greetings (kisses) and the male goes back up to the Fairway Branch. The female remains, pecking around the nest, and eventually does a bit of beak cleaning on a pinecone, both continuing their territorial hoots to one another. While there, the female continues to move some pinecones to just the right spot before joining her mate back up on the branch. The pair continue their territorial hoots until a Barred Owl is heard at 06:52:49 when both Owls turn in the direction of the Barred Owl call. Then the female takes off, and the male soon flies to an upper branch in the tree, out of cam view.
