Step by Step showing you how to tie the Canada wet fly.

Hook: Mustad 3399, #4-#14
Thread: Danville 6/0, Black & White
Tail: Sparkle Yard, Red or Red Wool
Rib: Danville Silver/Gold Mylar Tinsel, #14
Body: Danville 4-Strand Rayon Floss, Red
Hackle: Schlappen, Red
Wing: Gray Turkey or any mottled Black & White

The Canada is listed in Ray Bergman's book Trout (page 426, plate 02) and that is about all I know on this fly. I chose to tie this fly and do a video because of the turkey wing as well as the yarn tip. Not many wet flies have a tip made from yarn. Even though the yarn is listed as a tip in the recipe Don Bastian mentioned it is actually a tail that is trimmed as a tip (meaning very short). A little something different. Plus, I am looking at doing a number of wet flies that in corporate turkey in the wing. Turkey is not as straightforward as goose and duck quill (at least for me) and I am enjoying learning some of the subtleties of the material. The turkey used in the video is usually called Ozark Turkey Tail Feather (https://amzn.to/3XlVGwd). Other gray turkey feathers can be used if they get you the results you need. The Canada is a fun fly to tie. I look forward to fishing this fly in the upcoming season. - Enjoy
