How Accurate Are the Calories Burned on Apple Watch / FitBit
Answering a very popular question I get, How Accurate are the Calories Burned on Apple Watch / FitBit.
Tracking the amount of calories, I burn is not something that is easy to do. The machines that we do have are not fully accurate in require you being hooked up to multiple machines to get a somewhat accurate reading on the calories that you have burned. The issue is that an Apple Watch or a Fitbit athletic watch are not a ton of machines. These things will be using an equation based off of your body weight, heart rate, etc. to come up with an estimated amount of calories burned, but this number is not fully accurate.
I’ve done long workouts where I didn’t move around a whole lot but the watchers told me to burn 1000+ calories which I knew is not the truth. Yes be careful with these because some people will use those extra calories day of burned and try to eat it back thinking about they will lose weight when the watch is giving them an inaccurate number.
