Chico Mendes, whose full name is Francisco Alves Mendes Filho, was born on December 15, 1944 in Xapuri, Brazil and died on December 22, 1988. Chico Mendes is famous for his efforts to save the rainforests in Brazil from logging and animal husbandry activities.
