Wanted homicide suspect wanted by Atlanta police is arrested by Georgia State University Police

On December 7th, 2022, Georgia State University Police observed a homicide suspect wanted by APD near the location of 29 Marietta St. GSU Officers immediately detained the suspect, then notified APD.

Upon arrival, APD Zone 5 officers confirmed the identity of the suspect as Deiontre Hughes (DOB 8/94) who was wanted for a murder that occurred November 14th at the location of Marietta St and Broad St. NW. Mr. Hughes stands accused of murdering a male victim on that day, causing blunt-force trauma to the victim’s head.

Officers placed Mr. Hughes in custody without incident. He was transported to Atlanta Police Headquarters to be interviewed, then transported to the Fulton County Jail on the charges of Murder.
