#647 // JOY OF THE LORD - LIVE
Yesterday, we went Christmas shopping and I discovered a few things I'd like to share. First, Christmas shopping of today is an alien, out of body experience compared to what it was before COVID. The shops are packed with stuff - beautiful things, really - but, there are no shoppers browsing the aisles. Christmas Tree vendors are as rare as White House truth speakers - and the spiritual sense of those we encountered was that of dread, fear and worry. There is a noteworthy absense of Joy of the Lord - and it can be heard in muttered comments by those sharing meals at the food-courts - even when there is a patron to find.
Indeed, Christmas Shopping might well have occurred in a frozen field of snow for all the warmth of the season found at the various places we stopped by. Yet, despite this frigid season's greeting - there was a glimmer of hope to be found in some. Those outside the shops - and passersby in neighborhoods, had the Joy of the Holy Spirit - and this was most surprising of all. And that is the subject of tonight's conversation: The Joy of the Lord.
