(THIS is "the Merchant of Death"???)

In his first interview after release from a U.S. prison, Viktor Bout is asked if he hates America. His immediate reply is: "No."

He goes on to say that America's inherent strengths have been jeopardized by a self-serving govt. and they are being plundered by so-called 'elites.' He says the Americans he met from rural areas have no problem with Russia and are curious about Russia despite the negative propaganda.

Viktor Bout:

"Russia and America share much in common. We are naturally born not to be enemies, and whenever there's conflict, it's 'elites.' Americans are losing their Christian values, they are losing their families, they are literally losing their Country. It's no longer the same Country that used to be an example for the World, and lead and be a model, no longer a shining, sparkling town on a hill -- and this is a pity.

"It used to be an industrial might, but for the last 30-40 yrs. -- deindustrialization, drug problems, crime waves... and I feel more empathy toward Americans than I would feel any hate."
