Beijing has accused the BBC of deliberately distorting facts to tarnish the nation’s image in the West, as it deals with protests against its Covid policies. The comments come after Chinese authorities detained a BBC reporter at a protest in Shanghai.
Meanwhile, Western governments, which previously opposed anti-lockdown rallies in their own countries, are now speaking out in support of Chinese demonstrations.
