Apple’s no longer making money off Netflix
Apple’s monopolistic App Store practices are slowly crumbling as more & more governments around the world try to shake up big tech.
Netflix has changed their app on iOS to allow purchases of their subscriptions through an external link that takes you to their website.
Now, this is a big deal because until very recently this was not allowed in any apps on Apple’s App Store.
Specifically, you could only offer subscriptions within Apple’s own payment processor, you HAD to offer it at the same price as everywhere else, you could not advertise that users can buy services anywhere outside of Apple’s ecosystem & ofc Apple took about a 30% tax.
Effectively making a lot of apps either lose money with subscriptions through the iOS apps or make significantly less, bcs of Apple’s 30%.
