Subasweekaram ( 16th day prayers at home )

After conducting the rituals by the water (known as "Anthiyeshti" or the Karumathi prayers), the "Kartha" must first pray to the Almighty, requesting that all of the rites be of benefit to the soul, and then begin repeating the holy names of God till he reaches his house. At home, the water will be stored in a bucket, and the "Ulakkai" (also known as the Ulukalam or Pestle) will be placed on the ground in front of the front door. After cleaning his legs, the "Kartha" will proceed to stroll across the "Ulakkai." Before the "Kartha" may enter the home, the "Aarthi" ritual must first be carried out by two of the women who live there. The "Kartha" will go inside the room where the Pooja is being performed and ignite the lamp. It will begin with the recitation of the Mangala Slokam, followed by the offering of deepam, dhoopam, and aarthi.

Subasweekaram and Suba Punyathanam

After that, the priest will begin the "Subasweekaram" or the "Veedu Kiruththiyam" by performing the Kalasa Poojai. The ceremony of cleansing known as "Punyathanam" or "Punyahavachanam" will be carried out, and the water will be sprayed liberally around the inside of the home. The water will also be provided to the close relatives so that it may be used to clean their dwellings. There will also be some water left in Kartha's home, which he will use to take a bath the next day, which is the 17th day. This water will be utilized by Kartha. When the "Kartha" travels to the Temple to conduct the Athmashanthi Pooja to the departed, he will take the coconut that has been stored in the Kalasam and carry it with him.
