1. In accordance with the custom that has been passed down through the family, a "Padayal" (three or five in number) or offering of different kinds of food will be made.

2. The Kartha travels to the coast while wearing the same dhoti that was worn during the cremation and the gathering of the ashes. He is attended by all of his close male relatives, who washed the dead individual's corpse before to the burial.

3. Once Kartha and his family have left, the home will be cleaned, and all of the women will have a bath.

4. Once the Kartha has arrived at the coast, it conducts the Kalasa pooja while wearing the Pavithram and the Poonool.

5. Prayers are offered to Yaman, who is known as the "God of Death," and Chitragupta, who is known as Yaman's "Accountant." The ritual known as "Yeaka Homam" is done in honor of Yama.

6. As part of the practice known as "Pinda Prathaanam," three "Pindams" (cooked rice balls) are presented as a gift to the three ancestors who came before the current generation.

7. After traveling around the Pindam in a counterclockwise manner three times, the rituals of Dhoopam, Dheepam, and Aarthi are performed on the Pindam, and flowers are presented as an offering.

8. The rite of Tarpanam, which consists of the offering of water with Thila seeds or Ellu, is carried out.

9. The three Pindams and the Padayal are wrapped in a white cloth together, and the Kartha holds the bundle over his left shoulder.

10. The Kartha walks toward the sea and, while repeating "Om Namasivaya," tosses the "Padayal" package into the water while doing so three times.

11. After taking a bath in the ocean and advancing one step ahead, the Kartha discards his Pavithram and Poonool and travels forward one more step.

12. Upon reaching the beach, the Kartha is instructed to perform the head tonsure ritual. Alternately, one may pull off a single strand of hair three times while chanting the "Vapana Manthram."
