American Historic Society - Year 2000 Silver Dollar - Commercial

I'll never understand how people didn't recognize these as the obvious scams they are.
I mean, maybe some numismatists just thought they looked cool? But I'm betting most people buying them thought they were getting authentic investments, like they were buying a bond or something.
