ASD School Closure Town Hall

ASD has a $68 Million Shortfall for their budget. They want us all to believe this is because our Alaskan Legislators haven't increased the BSA since 2017. This is a lie. Alaska is Ranked the Worst in the Nation for providing a education & they do it at nearly triple the costs of anywhere else.

In Anchorage, 5,000 less students are going to school there, than there was just one year ago. That is a $100 Million Budget cut to the BSA Formula they would get if those students were enrolled. The student population has been dropping for over a decade now & ASD did nothing to adjust for the decline.

43,500 Students are in ASD. 6,000+ people employed. That is 1 adult for every 7.5 kids that are going to school. Yet they claim these closures will force class sizes from 20 students to 30 students per teacher. Doing the math based on 20 kids. That means only 1/3 of those 6,000+ School Employees are teachers providing an education. I meant to say…. Indoctrination.

Instead of them doing anything the would improve our children educational outcomes. Like the movie “Stand & Deliver” highlights. They expanded their Woke Agenda. Politics and personal agendas now are prioritized in the classroom & two years ago they started teaching CRT, (Critical Race Theory) relabeled DIE (Diversity, Inclusion, Equity. Which does nothing to improve the performance of our Schools. As a matter of documented record, it has had the exact opposite effect.

I find it appalling the way they highlight the PFD as a competing “Budget Item”. They know this has the most adverse effect on our children. They knowingly are willing to steal their PFD’s to keep themselves well funded, instead of following the “Statutory PFD Law”.
