Burrowing owl in urban Las Vegas

This little burrowing owl was running around a fast food parking lot at night in November in East Las Vegas, seemingly catching bugs to eat. They do eat insects & small rodents. Burrowing owls do live in the southwest deserts of the US but also in many other places. They sleep during the day in underground burrows. They are about 10 inches tall but apparently only weigh around 6 ounces. Owls wings are very quiet. They can move their neck more than 360 degrees but their eyes stay looking forward. They can migrate south for the winter & then back up north for the summer.
