In this episode, we unbox and test out the Iesooy portable Dock for the Nintendo Switch and Switch OLED, a Full-featured 3rd party switch dock with features that other, more expensive docks, don't have, and it's only $35!

I will admit that I have reviewed a ton of docks for the Nintendo Switch. The OEM unit works amazingly well, but if you need or want to hook up your switch in another room what are you to do? Many third-party docks work wonderfully, except when trying to view content from streaming sources. Granted, the Switch doesn't stream many sources, but it has a few. Many third-party docks do not allow this content to stream through it properly, due to what's called HDCP protection. Iesooy sent us their new Nintendo Switch & Switch OLED dock, which has a lot of features and promises to handle HDCP properly.

Out of the box, I have to say I love the overall design of this. The white on black I think looks great and matches the Switch OLED extremely well. It has a hinged flap with a magnet in it to protect the USB-C port when transporting it. One side of the dock has two USB 2.0 ports, and the other has a USB 3.0. Out back, you have your USB-C port for power, HDMI port, and an Ethernet port. Oh, and it is only $35.

Out of the box, there is no power supply included. 5 years ago there is a major concern about third-party switch docs bricking and damaging your systems. A majority of those issues were directly linked to not using a proper power supply. Because of that and to avoid those issues, you will need to supply your own power supply, and I recommend just sticking with the OEM Nintendo one.

Getting everything hooked up was super easy to do. I just transferred my HDMI and power cables from my OEM dock to this one, and it powered right up. One thing I will say is there is a more positive connection between the USB-C port and the Switch and Switch OLED, whereas you can simply lift the switch out of the OEM dock, on this one you have to hold down the base of the dock when lifting the Switch up. That's a good and a bad thing, you know you've got a good connection but at the same time, you can't just lift and go.

Playing games on it, the video quality was really quite good. Now the box does indicate 4K UHD, but if you're expecting this to upscale your games I'm sorry to say that's not the case. The dock will allow 4K UHD content to pass through, but you have to have that 4K UHD content to begin with. So if you wanted to use a Samsung phone in DEX mode and stream content to your TV in 4K, it will do that perfectly. As the Switch does not output 4K this will not provide 4K.

The major feature the company brought up when talking to me initially about the stock was the ability to stream HDCP-protected content through your Switch. HDCP, or High-bandwidth digital content protection, was designed to stop people from ripping and playing with copyrighted materials. I don't consume a whole lot of content through my Switch in this way, but I test out some other docks and confirmed what they said. This unit, however, worked perfectly. While I only tested it within the YouTube app as I don't use Crunchyroll, but everything that I tried to play played perfectly.

Why It RoX:
- Only $35
- 3 USB ports
- Plays HDCP content
- Compact
- Built-in Ethernet port
- Works in tabletop and dock mode
- Elegant industrial design
- Magnetized lid to protect USB-C port

What could be improved:
- Are the USB ports 2.0 or 3.0? The use of blue indicates 3.0 but the manual indicates it has both 2.0 & 3.0
- Contrary to what the box and website indicate, it does NOT upscale Switch to 4K

Should you buy one?
For $35 this is perhaps one of the best third-party Nintendo Switch docks I've ever tested! It's small, compact, and portable while still having three USB ports and an ethernet port! I personally love the overall look and design, I think it's very clean and elegant. Best of all, it just works. My Switch games looked wonderful through here, I could play YouTube content without any issues. And again, this is only 35 BUCKS! Some of the features should be updated and clarified, this isn't going to upscale your switch to 4K, but this is a darn good little dock for you to consider.
