Intense Donetsk roadside battle

As soldiers from the 1st Slavic Brigade’s 2nd battalion continued in the fight to take the perennial frontline town Avdeevka, a chance encounter near a drain led to a small but bloody battle.

Drone footage of the encounter shows two Ukrainians hiding out in an under-road drainage system, a short exchange of fire with the Russian soldiers, and the quick deployment of the pipe-dweller’s eternal nemesis: the grenade. After one Ukrainian was seemingly killed (and used as cover by his partner), a second grenade was thrown.
