Dodge Fails at SEMA – More Lies from Dodge

Dodge displays the 2023 Last Call edition Challengers and Chargers signaling the end platform, as well as the Direct Connection crate engines available to order. Big issues appear as the cars are not what we have been told, not what was released so far, for already cars marked up so much.
The Dodge Challenger Shakedown Wide Body will no longer have a manual transmission (MTX) instead being fitted with the TorqueFlight Automatic (ATX). Allocations for manuals are very hard to come by, giving credence to rumors of a Tremec supply chain problem.
Dodge Charger and Challenger Swinger editions don’t seem to have the wood grain trim on the instrument cluster and center console bezels as show in the presentation photos.
The Black Ghost, while the side Challenger script does look very nice, the nose script feels like some Autozone bought letters glued on haphazardly. It just doesn’t look good.
The King Daytona feels like a parts bin edition, where they didn’t even bother to give it special seats. It uses the 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona seats, without actually saying “King Daytona”.
The convertible is probably the biggest disappointment, and has to be called out. The fitment of the trunk and roof assembly can be attributed to it being a prototype, rushed to meet deadlines for SEMA, but the third brake light looks if not actually being a cheap trailer brake light. It’s tacked on to the spoiler (above the backup camera) and doesn’t even face rear-ward. Its pointing down since its mounted flat to the underside of the spoiler. That is unacceptable for a package that costs just dollars under 30k. A dedicated part if not spoiler should be added. Even if such a spoiler is slated for production units, it would have been better to not even mount the third brake light, and just use the stock stoiler.
One other aspect is the overall concern and care the booth seemed to show regarding their products. The engine displays were nice (pricey, nothing is cheap) but the 345 supercharged crate engine does have fuel injectors installed and has broken ignition coil packs broken. How is that supposed to instill confidence in the shipping and delivery of a crate motor if they cant even ensure safe delivery to SEMA, where all eyes are on Dodge.
Even if somebody broke it at the show (doubtful), then replace it on the spot. All you need is a socket for two bolts and that’s it! Dacia Sandero jokes cometh.
