3

During uncertain times, investors start to consider what’s currently happening in the market. They want to keep getting their expected returns and continue to generate income, even in tough economic times. The key is to understand what’s going on, but also to try to figure out what’s coming next. Michael Episcope learned about the physical aspects of real estate in his youth as he helped his grandfather manage his apartment buildings in Chicago’s west side. He began college at DePaul University and a year later, he was working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. Michael continued to work full-time on the trading floor for the next 16 years while attending night courses to complete his undergrad degree.

After rising from runner to broker, Michael was given the opportunity to become a floor trader in a Chicago-based hedge fund, where he worked for an additional nine years. Today, he’s the co-CEO of Origin Investments where he oversees investor relations, marketing, and operations. Michael uses his 25 years of experience to leverage calculated risk-taking in efficient markets to build wealth for his clients. Here, we discuss his current strategies and how he builds relationships in different markets. We also talk about why Michael keeps his headquarters in Chicago, what markets his investors are interested in, moving towards the build model over value add, mitigating risk, and thoughts on what’s in store for the economy.
